Albany Free School

Albany Free School is a open enrollment, private PreK-8th grade community centered school operated by the Hudson/Catskill Housing Coalition (HCHC). HCHC is a social justice nonprofit organization working at the intersections of housing justice, criminal justice reform and education equity. Our school program offers sliding scale, income-based tuition; freshly prepared breakfast and lunch through our in-school kitchen with some produce coming from our community garden where students spend time daily, weather dependent. Our educational approach incorporates project-based, self-directed and community learning, as well as city as classroom excursions through social and healing justice frameworks. With small class sizes, each child receives individualized care and attention.
