Adventure Sailing School (Tivoli Sailing Company, LLC)
Our program focuses on the History of the Hudson River and Valley, as well as pirate history and lore. Commodore Jerome teaches a class several times a week, during lunch break, covering the relevant local history of the Hudson River - including whaling (Did you know that Hudson, NY was originally a whaling town?), information about the Astor & Vanderbilt familes, life on a warship & the Hudson River's contributions to naval history. Also, each week the sailors will pick out an authentic pirate flag and learn about that particular Pirate that week.
The most important thing we teach our young sailors is how to think critically, while using their brains and bodies to transport themselves and their fellow crew mates to their lunch destination each day. Our program is also very special in that it makes the subjects that children often find boring in school (such as earth science, physics and history), relevant to helping them Sail.
Parents can book one week at a time and they do NOT have to be consecutive weeks.
