Women of Science

Follow in the footsteps of an ancient astronomer, marine biologist, and New York State's first female state paleontologist. This program features activities that celebrate the contributions these pioneers made in the name of science.

This program will feature special guests from several NYS Museum Research and Collection departments!
Meet Museum Scientist and Freshwater Ecologist, Dr. Denise Mayer. She will discuss her work and tools she uses in the field, and have live specimens to examine in the lab. You can meet Dr. Mayer during the hours of 10:30–11:30 a.m. on Tuesday 8/15 through Friday, 8/18.
Tracey Thomas, Cultural Resource Survey Program Lab Director and Heather B. Clark, Cultural Resource Survey Program Principal Investigator and CADD Specialist to learn more about Archaeology. They will explain what projects they manage out in the field and why, and what kind of objects they discover.
