What our organization offers:
Ages for which our activities are most appropriate:
Full season, brother-sister camp offering traditional activities and extensive wilderness trip program in a strong, warm, community setting.

North Country Camps - Lincoln for boys & Whippoorwill for girls - are located in the Adirondack region of New York State. We are a fun and adventurous program offering many activities in camp and an extensive wilderness trip program in the Adirondack and Lake Champlain region.

Our purpose is to offer our campers and their counselors an extended opportunity to live together simply in safe, healthy, cheerful, and yet challenging outdoor surroundings. We believe in introducing children to a camp community where they have a say in what takes place; where life is dynamic and purposeful, yet unhurried; where they can develop skills at their own pace; where they can find their own style and self-worth without excessive competitive tension; where adventure is real, yet carefully supervised; where learning is the result of participation. We are eager to sharpen children's awareness of the wilderness environment, to work with them in finding sensible ways to preserve it.

Campers live in wood-framed cabins with their counselors. Though rustic, our youngest campers have electricity and bathrooms in their cabins. Older campers have shared bathrooms.

Morning Activities are chosen weekly, and afternoon activities are chosen daily based on individual interest. While children live with their peer group, activities are individual choice, which allows the campers to try new activities and deepen their skills in many areas. Because the campers are in activities they choose, they are able to make friendships across the full age range at camp. We have a counselor to camper ratio of 1:3, and 90% of our campers return each season.

The majority of our campers attend for the full 7 1/2 week season. We offer a 5 week option, and first-time campers of any age can choose to register for 3 weeks with the option to stay longer. The camp fee covers the cost of participation in every aspect of camp life, including horseback riding and wilderness trips.

We have chartered buses which travel from New York City and Albany to camp, and we are happy to meet campers at airports in Burlington, Vermont; Montreal, Canada; Plattsburgh or Albany, New York.

Lincoln and Whippoorwill are two separate camps with their own living areas, dining halls, waterfronts and playing fields. We share horseback riding, the ropes course and bicycling programs, and get together regularly for activities and events.

Please visit our website! We look forward to hearing from you with any questions you may have about our program and whether Lincoln and Whippoorwill may the right summer adventure for your child or children.
