WESTERN HORSEBACK RIDING LESSONS AND TRAIL RIDES ARE AVAILABLE EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK BY APPOINTMENT. CALL 518-482-8704).
SPRING BREAK CAMP AND SUMMER CAMP ARE MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY FROM 9 A.M. TO 4 P.M. STUDENTS CAN COME FOR SINGLE DAYS OR THE WHOLE WEEK. HORSES ARE RIDEN EVERY DAY. STUDENTS LEARN HOW TO LEAD HORSES SAFELY, HOW TO GROOM A HORSE, CLEAN ITS HOOVES AND GET IT READY TO RIDE BY PUTTING ON THE SADDLE AND BRIDLE. AFTER THE RIDE, STUDENTS REMOVE THE SADDLE AND GROOM THE HORSE AND CLEAN ITS HOOVES AGAIN.
STUDENTS LEARN HOW TO COOL DOWN A HORSE AND GIVE IT A BATH. STUDENTS CAN GROOM THE MINIATURE PONIES AND GIVE THEM EXOTIC HAIRDOS!
STUDENTS LEARN THE NAMES OF VARIOUS PARTS OF THE SADDLE AND BRIDLE. THEY ALSO LEARN ABOUT THE ANATOMY OF A HORSE.
THEY GET TO WATCH A FARRIER TRIM THE HORSES HOOVES AND A VETERNARIAN EXAM A HORSE.
STAFF TAKE STUDENTS ON HIKES ON 60 ACRES TO LOOK FOR WILD BLACKBERRIES TO EAT. THEY ALSO LOOK FOR WILD TURKEY FEATHERS AND DEER ANTLERS AS SOUVENIRS.
