Family Dance

Come kick up your heels to live fiddle music. Enjoy a tradition of community dancing and music handed down from generation to generation. We play music and get everyone involved – from ages 2 to 102 in easy-to-learn American barn dance favorites: circles, squares, contras, as well as a few international folk (Irish, Dutch, Scandinavian, Chinese, Polynesian, Israeli, French, African, and more) dances.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

The toe-tapping music consists of reels, jigs, polkas, hornpipes, and waltzes. Besides fiddle, instruments in a family dance could include banjo, mandolin, flute, pennywhistle, clarinet, guitar, piano, recorder, accordion, dulcimer, percussion, and more.  While participation in the dancing is encouraged — and it’s hard to sit still — it’s fun to just listen to the music and watch too!

A monthly family dance sponsored by DanceFlurry Organization is held usually the second Sundays of the month from January through April at the Delmar Reformed Church
