BEYOND WORDS: DISCOVERING THE MANY WAYS TO TELL A STORY (Rising 1st-4th Graders)

Ignite your imagination and join us for a storytelling adventure! Stories can take many forms, and there is not a single way to write or create one. Together, we'll explore the diverse ways stories can be shared—through wordless tales, comics, real-life accounts, fantastical journeys, and beautiful picture books. This week, writers will go on a journey to find stories within themselves and in the world around them.

A CALL TO ADVENTURE: WRITING HEROES AND THEIR JOURNEYS (Rising 5th-7th Graders)

What makes a hero? Explore heroes from myths to modern legends, or through your own memory or imagination. Students will develop their own heroes, design epic journeys, and learn the basics of storytelling and character development in this fun, interactive writing adventure.

FROM MEMORY TO MASTERPIECE (Rising 8th-10th Graders)

This class is designed to help you craft a meaningful personal narrative about your individual experiences that would rival any fictional story. We will do this by collecting memories, crafting scenes, and bringing your unique point of view to life within a vibrant community of young writers. You can make your personality, your past, your aspirations come to life on the page through descriptive language, suspenseful dialogue, and models from other writers who have shown the world their true selves. This writing has the potential to become a powerful college essay.
