Winter Break Activities

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 12/30/2017
Join the World Awareness Children's Museum for special craft activities throughout winter break!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

o Tuesday, December 26th: Finger Puppets! - From African and Amazon rainforests to the deserts of Mexico, snakes slither on the ground and through the trees while brilliant butterflies soar through the air. Create your own snake and butterfly finger puppets and make them as bright and colorful as you’d like!

o Wednesday, December 27th: Design A 3-D Tropical Fish Sculpture - Dive into your imagination and build a sculpture including some of the world’s most wild and vibrant fish. From the coast of Mexico to the Great Barrier Reef of Australia, there’s a variety of fish to be inspired by!

o Thursday, December 28th: Mixed Media Cut Paper Collage Workshop - With a rainbow of brightly colored torn paper pieces and a few glittery gems, we will travel the desert, the garden or sail away to the sun on the blue ocean. Magical fun for all ages.

o Friday, December 29th: Make A Mayan Mobile - The Maya were enthusiastic astronomers who believed the Earth was the center of all things, and that the stars, moons, sun and planes were gods. The symbol of the merging sun and moon had many colorful meanings (among them unity and cooperation). Make your own brightly colored mobile and enjoy the warmth of the sun and moon every day!

o Saturday, December 30th: African Drum Circle - Drum circles are a rhythmic way of expressing ourselves, and feeling connected to each other and to nature. Join Amy Brender, founder of the Glens Falls Drumming Circle, and learn about the history, tradition and energy of drum circles. We invite children of all ages to join in and feel the rhythm and the beat! (Some drums will be provided, though you are encouraged to bring your own percussion as well).
