This exciting week-long, co-ed summer camp is for swimmers entering grades 7-12 who swim competitively. (Campers MUST be at least 12 years old by start of camp). Designed to enhance the technical aspects of stroke, training and the strategies needed for each camper to compete at the top level of competitive swimming

Cost of Camp: $550 Residential; $425 Commuter

We will again be using CampDoc for our online registration system. We are again partnering with CampDoc (an online registration program) to better serve our campers and staff. CampDoc offers online registration and an electronic health record system for campers. The CampDoc site is secure, encrypted and password protected. Only Alfred University Summer Health Staff will have access to camper health information.

The Program:
This program includes:

    • Technical instruction
    • Stretching and dry land training
    • Training principles
    • Stroke development
    • Additional advanced workouts available for competitive swimmers who are in training
    • Practice sessions held in a 25-yard indoor competition pool, located in Alfred University's McLane Center
    • Each athlete will be videotaped and receive a DVD with stroke analysis
    • Fun recreational activities
    • Camp T-shirt

The Director:
The camp is directed by Brian Striker, Head Coach of Swimming and Diving at AU. Coach Striker was one of the top swimmers in the program’s history while a student at the University, earning All-American certification five times. He returned to the University in 2002 to coach the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams. In his twelve years at the helm of the men’s team, he has guided the Saxons to four Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association championships and five Empire 8 Conference championship titles.

Striker is a five-time UNYSCSA and Empire 8 Conference Coach of the Year. Athletes he has coached have won 142 Empire 8 individual and relay events and 54 UNYSCSA individual and relay events. He shares the school record for consecutive men’s dual-meet coaching victories (28, from 2005-2009). He has coached six All-Americans at AU, and 31 individual and 15 relay school records have been set. In 2010, Coach Striker was inducted into the Alfred University Athletic Hall of Fame. This is his 13th year as Swim Camp Director.

Facilities:
The beautiful Alfred University campus offers modern buildings and facilities, a 25-yard indoor competition pool, classrooms with state-of-the-art equipment, pleasant residence halls and dining rooms and lots of open spaces.

Schedule:
The camp begins with registration and check-in on Sunday from 2-4 PM, followed by dinner, a campus tour and ice-breaker activities. During the week, swimmers attend camp sessions during the day and enjoy recreational activities each evening. The program concludes on Friday, after lunch, and campers check out between 1:00 and 2:00 PM.

What to Bring:
Each camper must bring a swimming suit, towel, swim cap, fins, goggles and his/her own pillow, blanket and bed/bath linens for the week (bed linens to fit the extra-long twin residence hall beds).

Camp Fees:

  • Residential camp fee: $550 per person covers room and board from Sunday dinner through Friday lunch, individualized and group instruction, as well as additional organized activities, a camp T-shirt, and a fun-filled week. (The full camp fee, minus any applicable discounts, must be submitted electronically with the enrollment form. Commuter rate available; see section below.)
  • Team discount: If three or more swimmers from the same school or team enroll in the camp, they will receive a discount of $25 per person. (To be eligible, the same team name must be filled in on each enrollment form.)
  • Early bird discount: Campers who enroll before April 15, 2020, will receive a $10 early bird discount.

Further details and directions will be sent to all campers upon our receipt of their enrollment form and payment.

Enrollment Deadline: May 1

Acceptance:
Campers will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Enrollment is limited and this camp fills up fast, so it is a good idea to enroll as early as possible. Swimmers who wish to enroll must complete and return the enrollment form, along with a non-refundable $100 deposit.

Cancellation Policy:
Full refunds will be made for camper cancellations received by June 1. 50% refunds will be made for cancellations received between June 2 and June 10. No refunds are given for cancellations received after June 10.
