Session One: Sense-a-tional Science
June 28, 29, 30 and July 1st
Let's use our senses to explore different substances
and materials. Touching, smelling, hearing, tasting
will have us seeing things in a whole new way.
Session Two: Birds
July 12, 13, 14, 15
Our fine feathers friends are fascinating! What characteristics and features are unique to birds? How do birds help people? How can we help birds? We'll be sure to enjoy many books about birds, both real and imaginary.
Session Three: Favorite Author: Antoinette Portis
July 26, 27, 28, 29
It's "Not a Box" and it's "Not a Stick", so what can it be?
We'll use our imaginations to turn our boxes and sticks into something new!
Session Four: Make A Country
August 2, 3, 4, 5
Kids create their own country. Together we will make a
country map, the flag, the coins, the passports, maybe even
the peoples' favorite food and more. Bring these ideas
home to explore our own country and many
others around the world.
Session Five: 3D Art
August 23, 24, 25, 26
If your child enjoys messy - constructive art, this one is a good fit. With inspiration from some artists we will create sculptures and 3D art using a variety of medium.
Session Six: Investigating Containers
August 30, 31 and Sept. 1, 2
You may think this would be a very simplistic topic to explore. But, it is quite complex. What is the purpose of containers?
Do they come in different shapes and sizes? Why?
Can we make our own containers? What materials would
work well? Do we need to know how we will use the
container before we make it? Are there different ways
to sort containers? Do all containers have tops -
why or why not? And many more puzzling questions.
