He made his Broadway debut at age 11 as The Tap Dance Kid, and continued with Black and Blue, Jelly’s Last Jam, and his unprecedented award-winning Bring in ’da Noise, Bring in ’da Funk, which garnered him a Tony Award for Best Choreography.
Glover’s film credits include Tap (starring Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis, Jr.), Spike Lee’s Bamboozled, George Miller’s Happy Feet and Happy Feet Two, and he has appeared on television in commercials, such as Free Style Nike, as well as been a longstanding performer in Sesame Street.
With OUT’KNiGHTz, we experience the unification of percussive elements of tap and melody examining the true essence of free music and song. Savion Glover’s legendary approach to the art form of tap dancing brings the listener a seasoned history of the Original Hoofers’ approach to improvisation. Accompanied by the prodigious, Jalin Shiver on horn and Malachi J. Lewis on drums, OUT’KNIGHTz explore intensely the rhythmic syncopation highlighting the infinite possibilities of tap dance and sound.
