Lost in the Woods?

Worried about what to do if you're hiking and lose the trail? Does moss actually grow on the north side of trees? Exploring responsibly is an important part of sharing our wild spaces with wildlife. Come learn basic skills, ethics, and survival tips when it comes to walking where there are no trail markers. We will provide maps and compasses for the day. If you have your own compass, feel free to bring it. Please bring water, snacks, closed-toed shoes, layers with BRIGHT COLORS, a change of socks (just in case). A walking stick or hiking poles are great for extra support, if you have them. This program will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM on 10/29. This program is designed for ages 12 and up. Program meeting location will be shared when you pre-register. To pre-register, email graftonlakessp@parks.ny.gov by 4:00 PM on the Tuesday before the program (10/27). Please be sure to include the date and program title in your email. For example, "10/27 Lost in the Woods?" In your email, let us know how many people will be attending for your group, first and last names, and phone numbers. Please note that programming capacity is limited to meet COVID-19 safety requirements. Additionally, masks must be worn by all participants for the entire duration of the program.
