We can't think of a better way to end our season than to give back to the youth in our community.
All proceeds from this cruise will be given to the Lake George Village Teen Center and Nico's House Inc.
Nico’s House was founded by Karine Scroggy and her family in honor of her son Nico, who passed away from the effects of heroin addiction two years ago. They work with the Council for Prevention and talk with panels in area schools to kids and parents about addiction; they provide scholarships to students entering trade schools; they support families going through these struggles via education, advice on where to seek help, etc.
The Lake George Village Teen Center was started last year – supported by Caldwell Presbyterian Church, St. James Episcopal Church, and Sacred Heart Church in Lake George, the Lake George Jr/Sr High School, the Village of Lake George and the Town of Lake George, and other community members. Currently the center is available after school for teens 2-3 days a week, operating in the Lake George Senior Center. They hope to be able to hire a part-time director, as they are operating with volunteers now, and then be able to expand the hours of service and opportunities to the teens.
The Steamboat Company is proud to end our Bicentennial Celebration with this fundraiser, as it demonstrates again the importance of the community and its young people to us and our company.
