May – Islamic Art / Working With Symmetrical Pattern: Friday, May 9th 2025
Patterns are a vital part of Islamic art, from decorating small single tiles up to large vast mosques. We will be exploring the perfect symmetry and the typical Islamic architectural features (domes, arches, columns, etc.), as well as the intricate detail of the beautiful patterned Islamic artwork. Using a grid as a drawing tool, the students will create a symmetrical patterned art piece of their own and then they will be painting their own ceramic Moroccan Tile. We will be working with symmetry, complex patterns, balance, unity, geometric lines/shape, organic lines/shape, and more!
