The Schenectady High School Parent Empowerment Center, in partnership with Kitchen Love, proudly presents Hamilton Hill Reunion Part 3: Back-to-School Block Party, a free community celebration designed to bring families together, prepare students for a successful school year, and strengthen the connection between schools and the neighborhoods they serve.

The event will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Jerry Burrell Park and welcomes families from across Schenectady and the Capital Region.

More than a neighborhood reunion, the Hamilton Hill Reunion represents the Schenectady City School District's commitment to meaningful Family and Community Engagement. Through the work of the Schenectady High School Parent Empowerment Center, the event extends the District's mission beyond the classroom by meeting families where they are, building trusted relationships, and connecting them with educational opportunities, essential resources, and community partners.

The Parent Empowerment Center believes that student success is strongest when schools, families, and community organizations work together. The Hamilton Hill Reunion reflects this belief by creating an environment where families can engage with school staff, local organizations, businesses, faith-based partners, and service providers in a welcoming community setting.

This year's event is powered by an outstanding coalition of community partners whose generosity and commitment help make this celebration possible. Special thanks to:

Their partnership demonstrates what is possible when schools, businesses, nonprofits, public safety agencies, and community organizations unite around a common goal: ensuring every child and family begins the school year with the support, resources, and encouragement they deserve.

"This event is a perfect example of what family engagement looks like in action," said Ms. Shanda, Parent Empowerment Facilitator at Schenectady High School. "When schools intentionally connect with families outside of the school building, we create stronger relationships, increase trust, and build a network of support that helps students thrive both academically and personally. The Hamilton Hill Reunion is about celebrating our community while demonstrating that our schools are committed to serving the whole family."

The free event will feature:

Free backpacks filled with school supplies and hygiene products for K–12 students (while supplies last)

Gift Certificates for free haircuts for K–12 students

Free hamburgers and hot dogs

Water games and family-friendly activities

Face painting

Community basketball games

Music and entertainment

Community organizations and resource tables

Information about Schenectady City School District programs and family services

Opportunities for families to connect with local agencies, nonprofits, businesses, and community leaders

The Hamilton Hill Reunion embodies the District's Family and Community Engagement pillars by building authentic relationships between families and schools, connecting families with resources that support student success, increasing family participation in education and school life, encouraging collaboration between schools and community partners, and celebrating the strengths, culture, and history of the Hamilton Hill community while investing in its future.

Organizers continue to welcome additional sponsors, volunteers, vendors, barbers, and community organizations who want to invest in Schenectady's children and families.
