Be an archaeologist for a week at the Albany County Historical Association Archaeology Summer Camp! Conducted by Hartgen Archeology Associates, campers conduct a true archaeological dig at the Dr. Thomas Elkins site in Albany. Dr. Elkins was a dentist, doctor, inventor, abolitionist, and world traveler who lived in Albany in the 1800s. Camp includes a field trip to the New York State Museum for a behind-the-scenes tour of the archaeology department and collection. At the end of the week, campers will create an exhibit and present their findings at an open house for family and friends. Campers also receive a t-shirt. Camp is for students entering grades 5-10 in the fall.
Camp meets at the Ten Broeck Mansion before walking with the archaeologist to the dig site on Livingston Avenue. Pick-up is at the Ten Broeck Mansion.
