Ages for which our activities are most appropriate:
The Capital District Youth Pipe Band (formerly Scotia-Glenville Pipe Band) teaches young children ages 8 to 18 to play the Bagpipes and Drums. We are nationally and internationally recognized for our excellence in developing players from the beginning stages to the highest competition levels. Under the direction of Maureen Connor, 2012 World Pipe Band Champion, the curriculum focuses on developing instrument fundamentals, music fundamentals, musicianship, and leadership.
The Capital District Youth Pipe Band (formerly Scotia-Glenville Pipe Band) has three main goals:

  • offer bagpipe lessons and drum lessons in a comfortable, youth-centered environment
  • provide leadership opportunities for teenagers
  • compete in the United States, Canada and Scotland as a Juvenile Pipe Band

Professional instructors, coupled with outstanding camaraderie and team attitude, makes the Scotia-Glenville Pipe Band a singular organization -- it is the only competing Juvenile Pipe Band in the Northeastern United States.

We practice weekly on Wednesday nights at the CELTIC HALL, 430 New Karner, Rd, Colonie, NY at 7 p.m. Come learn more about the band, meet the instructors and other students!
