Walk for Autism & Safety Awareness

Centered around the theme of Safety Awareness, this inclusive community event will bring together individuals, families, self-advocates, professionals, first responders, and community organizations to promote acceptance, connection, and practical safety education for Autistic individuals and families.
The event will feature:
- An inclusive community walk beginning at 10:00 AM
- Safety awareness resources and education
- A community Resource Tent
- Kids activities and family engagement opportunities
- Character appearances including Quackerjack
- A photobooth experience
- Complimentary cotton candy and popcorn
- Community partners including:
- Rhinebeck Fire Company
- Dutchess County Public Transit
- Dutchess County Department of Health Mobile Health Unit
- Dutchess County Department of Mental Health
- Dutchess County Sheriffs' Department
The Walk for Autism & Safety Awareness highlights the importance of community safety topics including wandering prevention, outdoor recreation safety, emergency preparedness, and water safety awareness. The event is designed to be welcoming and accessible, with sensory-aware supports and opportunities for families to connect with local organizations and services.
Funds raised through the walk support Autism Society Greater Hudson Region’s programs and services for individuals and families across 21 counties in the Greater Hudson Region of New York.
Community members, organizations, and businesses are invited to participate as walkers, sponsors, volunteers, or resource partners.
