SUMMER BREAK 2019: July 1 - August 23, 2019

 

WEEK ONE: JULY 1-5
4-day week, no class July 4th

Superb Superheroes (Grades: 1-2)
Be a science superhero! Experiment with light, chemical reactions, flying forces, and even design your own superhero toy. ($200)

Space Academy: Destination Mars (Grades: 3-5) 
Take a trip to one of our closest planets as we prepare for launch, test the human body’s reaction to being in space, and build up a model Mars Research Station. Finish the week with an Exploration Station mission in the Challenger Learning Center. ($224)

WEEK TWO: July 8 – 12

Wreck It! Rube Goldberg Machines (Grades: 3-5)
Build crazy contraptions while learning about energy and mass! Learn how we convert energy between different types and use that energy to make a gigantic machine with everyone in the class!

Physics of Video Games (Grades: 3-5)
Hang glide in to a week all about our favorite games! Learn about building forts and bridges, and how different materials can fall apart!

Space Academy: Lunar Blast Off! (Grades: 1-2)
Blast off on a lunar expedition by building rockets, traveling to the moon, and completing experiments before returning to Earth. Finish the week with a Cosmic Kids mission in the Challenger Learning Center.

WEEK THREE: July 15 – 19

Glow World Glow (Grades: 1-2)
Discover bioluminescence and experiment with chemistry to create your own glowing toy. Uncover the secrets of glowing creatures and other natural objects.

Seeking With Stars: Celestial Navigation (Grades: 6-8)
Learn about constellations and how they were used to navigate and tell time throughout the world! Build your own astrolabe and use it to learn all sorts of useful data from the sun and stars!

Space Academy: Rocket Specialists (Grades: 3-5)
Explore space flight, aeronautics and the physics of flight through hands-on activities. Finish the week with an Exploration Station mission in the Challenger Learning Center.

WEEK FOUR: July 22 – 26

Wolf to Woof (Grades: 1-2)
See how animals change by discovering their traits, and your own! Build your own strand of doggie DNA, determine what your animal looks like, and explore the wild world of wolves!

Wolf to Woof (Grades: 3-5)
Learn about some of our best friends by tracing the development of wolves into dogs! Learn about traits, mutations, senses and even the chemistry behind pet food!

Space Academy: Comet Mystery (Grades: 3-5)
Explore interactive activities related to astronomy and space exploration with a focus on some of the smaller objects in our solar system – comets. Finish the week with an Exploration Station mission in the Challenger Learning Center.

WEEK FIVE: July 29 – August 2

Dino Discovery (Grades: 1-2)
Explore a prehistoric landscape and dig for fossils. Learn about how ancient creatures lived, moved and ate!

Dig Into Prehistoric Science (Grades: 3-5)
Discover the world of dinosaurs from existence to extinction, and even see what their remains can teach us about life today!

WEEK SIX: August 5 – 9

Rock & Resonance: The Physics of Music (Grades: 3-5)
Learn all about waves and sound while building your own musical instruments, and watch how instruments move and make sound in slow motion!

LEGO Robotics Movement (Grades: 3-5)
Work in teams to program cool LEGO robots! Create robots that can navigate courses on their own, knock down walls, and interact with their environment! No experience necessary.

WEEK SEVEN: August 12 – 16

Potion Commotion (Grades: 1-2)
Create chemical reactions that bubble, glimmer and pop by mixing, stirring and measuring your own concoctions.

LEGO Robotics Sensors (Grades: 3-5)
Work together to create LEGO robots that can sense their environment. Build robots that sense light, touch and more and learn how real animals use these senses to interact with the world around them. No experience necessary.

Space Academy: Rocket Specialists (Grades: 3-5)
Explore space flight, aeronautics and the physics of flight through hands-on activities. Finish the week with an Exploration Station mission in the Challenger Learning Center.

WEEK EIGHT: August 19 – 23

Mystery Solvers (Grades: 1-2)
Become a crime solver! Learn about fingerprint patterns, discover mysterious substances, experiment with colorful clues, and crack codes!

CSI Crime Lab Chemistry (Grades: 3-5)
Put your detective skills and science to work solving crimes! Investigate the technologies and science of forensics, chemistry and cryptography to learn about crime scene science past, present and future.
