Teens with a flair for fashion can try their hand at a variety of fabric arts in a relaxed and social setting! Using a variety of textiles, participants will sew up fun art projects and create ‘fits of their very own creation! Playing with color, texture, shape, and more, our budding designers be runway-ready with sustainable and fashionable looks!
A wide array mediums will be offered, and teens will have the opportunity to:
-
Design and sketch original garment concepts for a recycled runway collection.
-
Learn various fiber art techniques such as weaving, sewing, and textile manipulation.
-
Deconstruct discarded materials to repurpose them into wearable fashion pieces.
-
Experiment with unconventional materials to explore sustainable design and construction.
-
Refine final looks for a runway presentation, including fitting and accessory coordination.
No experience is necessary. This is a small group program led by certified Visual Arts teaching artist Shana Bazelmans. Space is limited.
