Summer Academy for Youth

Created for students entering grades 6-10, The Summer Academy for Youth provides unique and fun learning experiences that are flexible and convenient. Make the College of Saint Rose your place to be this summer.


Week 1 (July 2-6)
American Sign Language, Improvisation Acting, Military Strategy, Forensics, App Design.


Week 2 (July 9-13)
Fashion Illustration, Small Business Management, Athletic Coaching, Alexander Hamilton History, Theater Technology, Veterinary Science, Drawn & Quartered, Poetry Writing, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Individual Athletic Training, Civics & Democracy, Digital Narratives.


Week 3 (July 16-20)
Character Creation, Mystery & Crime Writing, Sports Team Management, Law & Trial, Albany Murder & Mystery, Astronomy, Manga Drawing, Play Writing, Sports Broadcasting, Conspiracy Theories, Mixed Media Art, Roller Coaster Engineering, Coding with Minecraft.


Week 4 (July 23-27)
Graphic Novel Creation, Fan Fiction Writing, Song Writing, Fire Science, 2D Animation, Aquatic Ecology, Interior Design, Fantasy Writing, Jamming & Musical Improvisation, A Capella Singing, Environmental Technology, 3D Modeling, Music Recording & Engineering, Video Production.


Week 5 (July 30 – August 3)
Sculpture, Digital Photography, Game Theory, Acting with Accents, Theatrical Make-up, Screen Printing, Studio Art: Painting, Espionage History, Make-up Effects, Acting Techniques, Aerospace Engineering, Video Game Design, Video Production.


Broadway Bootcamp (July 9– 27)

Broadway performers rely on a variety of skills to propel them to stardom, and this class, taught by New York City theater professionals, will build these valuable skills in one-on-one instruction, group activity, and master classes. The focus of this intensive is on developing a well-rounded, multi-faceted, Broadway-caliber performer and helping students gain the confidence they need to land an audition and shine on stage!


The Broadway Bootcamp will culminate in fully staged scenes and songs from the hit musical Into the Woods, performed at the Swyer Theater at The Egg in Downtown Albany, on Thursday, July 26 at 7pm.
