We are excited to continue launching a co-ed Rocketry Camp to be held in our newly constructed Borisenok Family Science Center at Albany Academy for Girls. Each week will consist of two small launches testing specific variables. Each Friday parents will be invited to watch the rockets we build launch into the sky. These programs are designed to grab the interest of campers new to rocketry as well as challenge those with prior experience including campers who attended last summer!
July 5-8 Week One (grades 5-9)-How it all Started
Join us for an exciting in depth look at rockets. We will study the modern history of rocketry and the Science behind rockets. We will work on individual and group projects. One project will entail designing and making a rocket to fly a certain distance and return to ground in a certain period of time.
July 11-15 Week Two (grades 5-9)-Planet Discoveries
This week we will research the discoveries made from satellites on the planets, dwarf planets and so much more. We will work on both individual and group rockets with emphasis in designing finless rockets from scratch.
July 18-22 Week Three (grades 4-9)-Force=Mass x Acceleration
Join us for a week where we will invite 4th graders in for the first time as well as continue working with designing and building rockets. We will work on a basic rocket where we learn the major parts of a rocket and build one to launch. How do we build the fastest rockets? We will work on featherweight rockets and see what happens to a rocket with less mass! This is bound to be a fast-paced class!
