Robotics Camp with Mad Science

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 07/23/2021
Join Mad Science for a Robotics camp, where campers will work on creating their own Robot to take home at the end of camp, along with having time to discover other robots, some circuitry, and even made an obstacle course for the robots to make it through!!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Technology Enrichment Grades 6 - 8

HVCC TEC-SMART Campus

345 Hermes Road, Malta

This program is comprised of five modules. Campers participate in all of these throughout the week.

Module 1: Ready for Robots

Module 2: Circuit Science

Module 3: Use Your Common Sensors!

Module 4: Robots 101

Module 5: Advanced Robotics

Ready for Robots

Campers will explore the fundamentals of robotics and discover how robots are used, through activities and games. We will begin assembling our very own Kingii Dragon Robot kits that you will take home at the end of the week. What do gears and spirographs have in common with robots? We’ll find out, along with discovering how a “co-op-a-walk” works with your friends. Take home your very own squiggle ball and watch it do crazy turns.

Circuit Science

We will explore the “nuts and bolts” of robots as we build simple circuits, test them, and discover how switches work. You’ll try out a real robotic arm and construct your own scribble bot from scratch to take home!

Use Your Common Sensors!

We’ll discover how the world of robots is at your command, as they follow a line or listen to your words. Campers will build a system of snap circuits and play games that use their senses to communicate. You can build and take home your very own circuit maze.

Robots 101

Campers will learn about Asimov’s Law of Robotics and its application to robot technology. We will go on a bug hunt to learn how robots’ movements are similar to those seen in nature and, watch a model car drive right up the wall, and practice with a real robotic arm. Campers can take home a springy robot-like hand that you work with your fingers.

Advanced Robotics

Campers will use their imaginations to create their own robot designs and recycle materials to make a model of their design. Then, we’ll have a chance test it in our obstacle course. We’ll race remote control cars and discover how robots are programmed via a sequence of commands. At the end of the week, campers will take home their robot to continue exploring the world of robotics.
