New York Folklore, located at 129 Jay Street, Schenectady is a statewide organization dedicated to supporting folk and traditional arts and culture in New York State. In Schenectady, New York Folklore manages a gallery on Jay Street that presents folk and traditional artists, and presents events, including festivals, concerts, and workshops. New York Folklore is the sponsor for the Schenectady Youth Orchestra with Zorkie Nelson, a percussion ensemble.

New York Folklore provides topical workshops, convenings, and training opportunities, both in-person and virtually. These include focused gatherings of artists and community representatives and professional development workshops such as Business 101 for Folk and Traditional Artists and Creatives. Training is developed through New York Folklore initiatives but also in response to requests from New York’s cultural communities.
