The Mettawee River Theater Company, founded in 1975, creates original theater productions that incorporate masks, giant figures, puppets, and other visual elements with live music, movement, and text. Its productions are drawn from the myths, legends, and folklore of the world’s diverse cultures. This year’s offering, “The Ringdove,” is based on “The Panchatantra,” a collection of allegorical tales from ancient India. The central characters are a crow, a rat, a turtle, and a gazelle, whose behaviors and relationships illuminate many aspects of human nature. The creatures grow in friendship and achieve strength and harmony through understanding and cooperation.

These events are made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the NYS Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Greene County Council on the Arts.
