Our week-long camps are designed to introduce middle school and high school boys and girls to the sport of rowing. The camp will focus on learning to row in an eight-oared shell (boat), team building, and different methods of training: running, erging (rowing machine), and water rowing. Open to any athlete, male and female, ages 11-18 (entering 6th-12th grade). No prior experience necessary.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Learn to Row Summer Camp

The learn to row summer camp program offers instruction in rowing to boys and girls entering 6th to 12th grade (ages 11 to 18). Albany Rowing Center (ARC) teaches young athletes about the sport of rowing through participation in a fun and educational setting. Students will learn water and boat safety, stroke mechanics on the ergometer (rowing machine) and the basic techniques of sweep rowing and sculling. While the majority of time is spent on the water, there is also fitness training on land and education about boats and equipment. Campers learn how to work as a team. Those who would like to continue rowing may join our competitive rowing program. For athletes looking for something new, this coed camp is a great way to find out if rowing might be a good fit.
