On Saturday February 14, the Flurry Festival will once again hold family sessions free to the public at the Saratoga Springs Public Library. There is no need to preregister, and families can drop in for any or all sessions throughout the day.
9:15-10am Animal Songs for Children
Mary Alice and Stefan Amidon
Largely taken from the Ruth Crawford Seeger book with the same title, a presentation of songs about squirrels, groundhogs, frogs, kangaroos and more! Singing along is encouraged!
10:15-11am Family Dance: Dance the World Around
Paul Rosenberg and Tamarak.
Fun – and some silly – American and world dances and singing games especially suitable for children (ages 3 to 10) and their parental units to dance together. Teens are welcome too!
11:15am-12pm Barnaby Bejeebers Interstellar Show
You will be singing, dancing and creating art with this Children Museum at Saratoga workshop! Barnaby Bejeebers will bring energetic live performance packed with sing-along songs, playful dancing, and hands-on activities! Barnaby invites children of all ages to jump in, laugh, and explore. With plenty of audience participation and Barnaby’s signature curiosity-sparling style. Whether you’re discovering Barnaby for the first time or already part of his imaginative universe, this joyful, high-energy session you won’t want to miss.
12:15-1pm The Storytelling Stone: Native American Lesson Stories

Stories from Wabanaki and Haudenosaunee traditions of how things came to be such as “Turtle’s Race with Beaver.” (Feel free to bring lunch along for this storytelling hour!)
1:15-2pm Cooperative Movement Games for Kids (Ages 8+)

Come and play: Box Box Secret Box, Mirror Mirror, MYO Game, Lost Goat, Golden Gate, and Shark! We will explore instruments and use props for movement games. Enjoy a take-home activity prop!
2:15-3:15pm Crankie Family Workshop

“Crankies” or scrolling picture shows are fun and entertaining for all ages! Come and learn about crankies and make your own crankie to present to your pals! This is a demonstration and hands-on workshop for all ages (5 and up).

The Flurry is a family-friendly festival, with programming for kids and teens running throughout the weekend. A special feature of the Flurry community is its intergenerational nature, with participants of all ages coming together for music and dance. Many current attendees have grown up at the Flurry, and now bring their own children to experience this magical event every year. From family dances, stories and concerts, to movement, singing, and instrumental workshops, to teen showcases, jams, and social activities, there are fun and inspiring activities for Flurrygoers of every age! Family programming continues on Sunday, at the Saratoga Springs City Center. Families attending the library program on Saturday will be offered a special discount on Sunday tickets, and children 12 and under are free to the festival all weekend!
