First Day Hike at Saratoga Spa State Park

Ring in the new year with a guided hike/snowshoe through the park! Participants will experience several mineral springs and other unique natural features during our first hike of the year. Meet at the Creekside Classroom (Picnic Loop Rd/Geyser Loop Rd). 1 mile and 3 mile hikes available. Pre-registration is required by calling 518-584-2000 ext. 116. Dress appropriately for conditions. Prepare to bring snowshoes/traction aids if conditions warrant. Some snowshoes are available. Inclement weather (such as high winds, snow/ice storm or extreme cold) will postpone this event.

Participants will get a unique glimpse of the mineral springs' ice formations and a sneak peek of the new education center plans. Snowshoes will be available to rent and families with small children are encouraged to bring sleds for them to ride on. Please come dressed for cold weather, layers preferred. Join our park staff for an approximately two mile loop hike through the lower park near Geyser Creek and around SPAC, be aware that there will be a few hills along the way. This hike is recommended for physically fit adults and children older than eight years old. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 18. Snowshoes will be available if conditions permit.

Pre-registration is required and early sign-up is suggested as this program may fill to capacity. Contact the park office at 518-584-2000 to register and if you have any questions.
