Early Spring Wildflowers at Thacher Park

Woodland wildflowers known as spring ephemerals bloom on the forest floor before the trees leaf out and block the sun. The season is short and the blooms of some delicate flowers can disappear in days. We’ll look for early bloomers like hepatica, coltsfoot, trout lily, spring beauties, and bloodroot. Meet at the Paint Mine picnic area. Call 518-872-0800 to register.

There are just a few weeks in early spring when the sun shines through the leafless trees to bring forth blooms on the forest floor. The earliest woodland wildflowers have begun to bloom and soon will disappear. We'll look for bloodroot, trout lily, hepatica, spring beauties, and other spring bloomers. This program is appropriate for ages 10 and up. Call 872-0800 to register.
