Annual Yule Log Tradition

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sun, 12/15/2019
Join us as we honor the Winter Solstice by spending a day outdoors. Search for the hidden Yule Log, followed by a community campfire. Make a craft, collect greens and relax during this busy time of year.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

On Sunday, December 15th from 1-3:30PM, the story of the Yule Log and the Winter Solstice will be shared at the Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center, followed by a search for the hidden Yule Log. We start the afternoon by sharing the traditional story of the Yule Log and the science of the Winter Solstice. Folks will be given a few hints before searching for the hidden Yule Log. Once found, it will be carried back and enjoyed at the outdoor campfire where we will be visited and entertained by a storyteller in costume. Holiday crafts and greens will be available to make and take home. People of all ages are encouraged to come out to this free, informal program. Hot chocolate and light snacks will be provided. Feel free to bring your own snacks to share. For more information, please contact the Center at dykenpond@gmail.com or (518) 658-2055.
