Annual Daily Gazette Holiday Parade

The holidays are here! It is time to celebrate! The Annual Daily Gazette Holiday Parade in Downtown Schenectady will be held on November 17th at 5:00 p.m. This will be the 50th anniversary of the Capital Region tradition. The Daily Gazette, The Capital Region Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Schenectady will be coming together for this wonderful occasion. This year's theme is “Golden Anniversary 1968 - 2018.” Shine, sparkle, and light the way into the Holiday Season with this parade. It's a great time for you and your family. Come celebrate with us!

The parade, a Capital Region tradition attracts 20,000-40,000 spectators who will line State Street in downtown Schenectady for what is widely known as the largest nighttime parade in the Northeast. Spectators will enjoy more than 100 magical characters, floats, bands, marchers, dance troops, and decorated vehicles are expected to be in the parade a vying for seven top prizes. The Gazette Newspapers will once again provide the Santa Claus float, which traditionally signals the parade's end but is eagerly awaiting by thousands of children.

Celebrate the 50th anniversary early with the 2018 Pre-Parade Street Festival, held November 17th from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Jay Street.  Join us for the party before the party, with bounce houses (weather permitting), face painters, balloon artists, live music, food vendors, crafters, area businesses and more!  Come out early, get a great parking spot, and celebrate the holidays at the Pre-Parade Street Festival.
