Albany Rowing Center's Junior Rowing Summer Camp Program teaches young athletes, ages 12-18, about the sport of rowing in a fun and natural setting. Students will learn water and boat safety, use of rowing machines, and the techniques of sweep rowing and sculling. While the majority of time is spent on the water, there is also fitness training on land and education about boats and equipment. Come row with us and enjoy the comraderie, exercise, and teamwork of crew and experience nature on the Hudson River (you may spy our resident eagle)!
Camp runs in weekly sessions, beginning on June 19th, from 9 am to 12 pm. The cost is $260 per week. Swimming ability is required. Camp fee includes an ARC T-shirt and pizza lunch on the last day of each session (parents are invited). Should a camp session be canceled, fees may be refunded or applied to another camp session.
Camp weeks: June 19-23, June 26-30, July 10-14, July 17-21, July 24-28, July 31-August 4, August 7-11, and August 14-18
All participants must know how to swim. Swimming ability must be documented at registration and the Swim Test Certification Form must be completed by a certified life guard. Bring the completed form with you to the first day of camp. Please note: Rowers do not wear life jackets in the boat. The coaching launch is equipped with life jackets for every rower.
What to bring: Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat, drinking water in a reusable water bottle, a snack for mid-morning break, socks, a change of clothing (sneakers, socks, shirt, shorts) and a towel, any inhaler or other medication needed, face mask if wanted.
