Albany Institute of History and Art

We're excited to welcome you to the Albany Institute of History & Art! Located in downtown Albany, just a block from the NYS Capitol, we host changing exhibitions and events that explore our region and our world. There's lots to do at the museum! Whether it is a drop-in art making session, take-home art sets, school field trips, art classes, or family fun days, there are lots of ways to be creative and discover new things at the museum. Learn more on our website!

The museum galleries have re-opened and in-person events have resumed at the museum, although there continues to be safety adaptations such as limited group sizes and required masks. Virtual programs are also being offered.

The Albany Institute is a place where people of all ages can learn and have fun! Our family programs provide enriching educational experiences about art and history in an atmosphere that is diverse, compelling, and entertaining. From weekend programs to family festivals, from school-vacation art programs to pre-school programming, the Albany Institute offers a wide variety of activities that will appeal to your family.
