Millworkers' Break at Hanford Mills Museum

The Millworker's Break offers a chance to go behind-the-barriers at Hanford Mills Museum and get an in-depth, guided tour of the Sawmill and its vintage woodworking machines. The workshop also features hands-on opportunities to move and cross cut a log, and to learn how the Mill’s staff controls the gate that allows water to start up the 1926 Fitz Overshot Waterwheel. After the tour, participants can enjoy homemade treats prepared by La Basse Cour Farm and Bed & Breakfast. Apple pie, cornbread, other baked goods, homemade jams and jellies and coffee and beverages will be served.
“The Millworkers’ Break is a special opportunity for visitors to engage with the Mill, and the vintage tools and machines that make up our collection,” says Liz Callahan, the Museum’s executive director. She noted that the Millworkers’ Break is geared toward both adults and children, and families are welcome to attend together.
The cost for adults and teens is $10 for Museum members, $15 for non-members; the cost for children 12 and under is $3 for Museum members, $5 for non-members.
