Join the ever-positive and inspiring Jess Updyke for this gathering of creativity and positivity, where children will be
guided through making their very own 108 bead mala! Each child will go home with their own mala and new inspiration
for meditation practice! All supplies and handouts will be provided, and drop-off is allowed.
A mala is a strand of beads, used for prayer and meditation. This is to introduce children to the practice of meditation.
The mala can serve as a powerful tool in focusing attention, and in turn gives a reminder to keep the intention of
mediation alive throughout the day.
You do not have to be an expert jewelry maker or beader to create your mala. We will all do a brief guided meditation to
focus our intentions, and choose a stone. As you create your mala, you will infuse it with your intentions and positive
energy. We will discuss intention setting for meditation, as well as various types of meditations, and then we will then
have an opportunity to practice a meditation, using our malas and a mantra for affirmation.
