Boys & Girls Club of Albany

The Mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

In every community, young people are left to find their own recreation and companionship on the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them. 

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany offers that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls from age 3 to 20 by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.

Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun.

A Boys & Girls Club provides a safe place to learn and grow, Ongoing relationships with caring adult professionals, life-enhancing programs and character development experiences, opportunity, and hope.

Our Youth Development Strategy

All programs are designed to maximize opportunities for young people to acquire four (4) basic ‘senses’ that are directly related to positive self-esteem and character building.  This strategy is incorporated into every interaction we have with young people.

• A sense of competence- acquisition of new skills, pride and confidence in those new skills and achievements
• A sense of usefulness- through helping others, the club, and the community
• A sense of belonging- feeling welcome, accepted, and secure at the club
• A sense of power and influence- knowing that their opinions are heard and valued
