24th Annual Anyone Can Tri Triathlon in Memory of Chris Gleason and Kids Can Tri Too
The Southern Saratoga YMCA is proud to announce that registration is open for the 24th Annual Anyone Can Tri Triathlon in Memory of Chris Gleason and Kids Can Tri Too! With an early date in the season, pool swim and heavy presence of volunteers on the course, this is the perfect Triathlon to get started with or to use as a gauge of winter training effectiveness.
Our race honors Clifton Park native and triathlete Chris Gleason who passed away at the age of 40 after completing the Philadelphia Marathon on November 20th, 2011. Chris was inspired by his wife Jenny, his mother Dale, and his sister Cara to begin running seriously in 2004. His first race was the Chicago Marathon with Cara and his lifelong friend Mike Curtis. Later, he encouraged Cara to become a triathlete and they completed the Ironman in Lake Placid together. Chris and his wife Jenny enjoyed running and biking together, often with their children, all over Clifton Park and the Adirondacks. In July of 2011 Chris finished his third Ironman race in just 10 hours, finishing 62nd out of over 2,900 competitors. He was an inspiration to other triathletes and encouraged many beginners to get into the sport, volunteering his time to help training many of them.
Pre-registration is open until May 3rd at 3:00pm. There will be no day of registration for the adult triathlon.
